This piece has taken me the 2nd longest of all I have done - I am pretty happy with the outcome. I am not that great at shading/lighting but I think the micromanaged effect made it appear as if it were cast by a harsher evening light (or is it late and I am reading waaaay too far into this one??). Wasn't sure hot to do the wings without making them detract from the main image, so I tucked them neatly underneath. I had a lot of fun and attempt to put hidden messages in to my work - although this one is a bit obvious, it is still fun to figure out. =) Pencil sketch, inked & colored in Photoshop.

This is very cute. Then again, I'm a sucker for dragons acting contrary to their usual nature. :) I really do like how you thought about a story for the picture and worked with it. Makes it much more than just a pose. Wings have posed problems for me too in the past, with anthro critters especially. They always seem to get in the way, in drawing and for the characters.

Thank so much! ^^ I love quirky characters as well and made this one in my own image (less the scales perhaps ;D), so it's nice to put a spin on the conventional fantasy works. Yes, I have gotten done with a piece and completely forgotten the wings before ("ummm is that just a big lizard?") - eep! I'd love to hear some of your tips - I do appreciate it very much!
